In 2003, 22 years ago, Elmar Gruber proposed an exhaustive study of my research abouth Centuries Reconsidering the « Nostradamus Plot »: New Evidence for the Critical Evaluation of the Chronology of the Editions of the Prophéties . I intend, in the present text to react to his various rejections of my conclusions which have been in the mean time completed in 2007 (Post Doctorate on the history of nostradamic criticism and 2011 (Revue Française d’Histoire du Livre) . I will start to summarize my main points before discussinge Gruber’s positions toward my work. But, I will start by underlining the fact that you need a certain experience on forgeries not to loose your path in that regard. My 1999 thesis was as a matter of fact not exclusively dedicated to Nostradamus, far from that as it inclued the Protocols of Zion for example.Its title « The French prophetical text. Formation and fortune, covered a much more extended field in time and in authors, which is actually the weak point of most nostradamical studies, mostly concentrated on the life of Nostradamus. Main points: 1 Some imitators of Nostradamus, in the 1570, have been used to produce pseudo-nostradamic literature, as Antoine Crespin. 2 The forgers have used all sorts of documents to nurish their Centuries entreprise as has shown Liaroutzos concerning the use of he Guide des Chemins de France by Charles Estienne. We have recently shown that the work of Guillaume de La Perriere, published in 1552, at Mace Bonhomme publishing house, with as title « Four Centuries » has directly inspired the 1555 edition at the same place. 3 It is therefore clear that the first false edition of the Centuries had the same title, refering to 4 Centuries, which is not the case of the false Mace Bonhomme édition which includes 4 Centuries but the last one uncomplete while we have a 1588 editions (cf Ruzo) « Grandes et Merveilleuses Predictions divisées en 4 centuries » (Rouen, Petit Val). 4 The 1588-89 editions only include the 4 Centuries editions, in spite of the fact that there was 1557 and 1568 editions supposedly already published. 5 the second volume of the Centuries (VIII, IX, X) first included the Epistle to Pope Sixte IV since some quatrains of that group refer implicitely to it and to the year 1567 so that we understand quatrain VIII, 77 mentioning 27 years « Vingt sept ans durera cette guerre ». Precisely, if we ad 1567 to 27, you get 1594 year Henri IV’s coronation. The Epistle was later on replaced by a pseudo Epistle to Henri the Second, which used a first Epistle to this same king introducing the Pressage Merveilleux. The name of Chartres had replaced Chastres in order to prove that Nostradamus had predicted thet the coronation will not take place in Reims but in Chartres, exceptionnally( see .http://www.propheties.it/Researches171-180.htm 5 the 1580 s forgers have used an amount of documents to create an illusion of authenticity and that included false almanachs published in the 1560s. The made a fatal mistake in reproducing the image used by those pirate almanachs in order to illustrate the false 1555-1557 editions of the Prophecies. 6 There wea actually quatrains in the true almanachs of Nostradamus and this was the reason why this form was chosen to constitue the false Centuries The content of those quatrains was derived from prose predictions inclued in the respective almanachs. And this is also the reason why I say that one has to look for the origine of the false quatrains within the true prose production of Nostradamus (cf our Post Doctorate 2007, Le Dominicain Giffré de Rechac etc My introduction on You tube). The relation between prose and verses has been, at that time, a major progress, later than the article by Gruber. 7 The position I had in 2002, in my book on Documents Inexploités, has been completely revised and I had abandoned the idea according to which the revival of Nostradamus took place only a few years after his death (1566) So that my analysis of Androgyn (1570) and Prophéties by Antoine Crespin (1572) was therefore postdated of around 15 years. It appears anyway that Chavigny was a main contributor to such a revival in the 1580-1590s. 8 On the basis of Liaroutzos research, I could prove that the original text of such a source (guide des Chemins de France) was modified so that the mention of Chastres was changed in Chartres to fit with the expected coronation taking place in that City . My Answer to certain Gruber’s points. Gruber argues that the quatrains which I said (1997) have been produced at the time of the League against the city of Tours did not find any echo as if we had kept everything dating from that period. It is a strange coincidence that the missing quatrains of the first 1588 false editions include précisely IV, 46. Gruber does note like when I say that Couillard in his Prophecies, attack an edition of Nostradamus that has not been kept, including an Epistle to Cesar. This is this missing edition which has inspired the false Epistle to Cesar in the same way as there was, as said above, a first Epistle to the King. that does not mean at all that the false editons of the Epistle to Cesar is the exact copy of the previous one in the same way as the false edition of the Epistle to the King would be the exact copy of the previous one. Fortunately we do have a copy of the Epistle (see my 2002 reprint) Gruber ends his attack with an analysis of my statements about Chavigny. This Recueil des Présages Prosaïques includes the draft of the almanachs sent to publication, without the quatrains which were composed by some versificator. Gruber mentions the attempts by Chavigny to connect diverse pieces of the Nostradamus corpus together. So what? The main idea of Chavigny was to demonstrate the unity of the whole, especially in his « Janus Gallicus »(1594) mixing quatrains of almanachs to quatrains of the Centuries in his commentary. Dans les deux cas, Bayrou révéle une tendance à vouloir ne pas être au courant de ce qui se trame autour de lui. Il semble plus à son aise en phase mutable qu'en phase cardinale. Contrairement à Barbault, nous pensons que tout passe par les personnes et que l'astrologue doit annoncer l'ascension ou la chute des personnalités et non tel ou tel événement car c'est cette ascension ou cette chute qui fait événement comme dans le cas de Hitler nommé Chancelier par le président Hindenburg, au début de 1933. Il convient de noter que les leaders sont impactés par les changements de phase voire qu'ils les incarnent. Cela signifie que la phase cardinale doit conduire les leaders à assumer leurs manquements et à éprouver une certaine culpabilité rétroactivement. Il est ainsi probable que bientôt Bayrou lui même cessera d'être dans le déni et assume ses manquements et ses compromissions. On est ici à l'opposé d'une typologie rigide et prônons une psychologie évolutive, cyclique. Le suicide de Hitler et de son complice Goebbels (et de son épouse) témoignent d'une dualité, d'une conscience à l'aune d'une nouvelle phase. On aura compris qu'en phase mutable, l'on a trop tendance à faire confiance aux autres, ce qui explique que Bayrou ait pu se décharger de certaines obligations sur son entourage, sur des collaborateurs/trices. La phase cardinale est celle d'un certain sevrage : on se rend compte du risque de trahison quand on se repose sur autrui qui aura abusé de la situation et ce sont donc les proches qui seront alors dans le collimateur du leader soit du fait de leur insuffisance, soit du fait de leurs calculs et intentions discutables.. An experimented astrologer will always be able to show that his prediction corresponds to an important event for the excellent reason that human life presents constantly dramatic features. During a period of 36 years, interval between two Saturn Neptune conjunctions will occur around fifteen changes of periods, every 2 years and 4 months. Therefore, it will always be possible to connect any such conjunction with one of those 15 conjunctions/ Michel Gauquelin, 70 years ago, in 1955, had mentioned such a problem in his criticisme of astrological statistics by showing that more people were born at a certain time of the year than at other moments. Therefore, it will be expected that certain signes would be over-represented. Astrology has necessarily to indicate two contradictory tendances, that corresponds to what the idea of falsifiability, developed by Popper. Web: — "Popper says falsifiability is the hallmark of a scientific theory, and allows us to make a demarcation line between science and non-science." We understand that the Saturn-Neptune effect exposed by André Barbault in 1955, has to include a counter experiment with opposite results. The probleme is to define what is the opposite configuration to a conjunction. Most astrologers tend to believe that the aspect of opposition will correspond to such a situation(see the principle of rulerships with exiles versus thrones). But, the opposition is to be identified with Syzygies Wikipedia: Syzygy (astronomy) "In astronomy, a syzygy is a roughly straight-line configuration of three or more celestial bodies in a gravitational system. A syzygy occurs during eclipses" It is more likely to find an anti-conjonctional configuration when Saturn and Neptune are separated by a semi-square aspect (45°). In any case, any conjonction in a cardinal signe is to be equivalent, no matter if it occurs in Aries, Cancer, Libra or Capricorne. Besides giving a special importance to Aries, will create a cycle not of 36 years but of 4 times this number (144 years, the revolution of Neptune being of 165 years). And it is precisely the point which will hypnotize astrologers to meet in Paris at the end of March 2025. In the same measure that we do not accept that Astrology has to include all the planets of the solar system but only one, that is Saturne, shall we refuse the position according to which every human being would be directly concerned, influenced by the said solar system. That is why, as soon as 1976 ("Clefs pour l'Astrologie. Ed Seghers), we have rejected the natal chart (radix) since such a document includes all the planets for all people, which is a double mistake. Only a rare minority of mankind will indeed be directly involved within the astrological process. "A planetary retrograde is about how we see the orbit of other planets from our vantage point on Earth. From our perspective, these planets appear to be moving in reverse motion — moving backward through the zodiac. The length of each retrograde varies, as some happen for just three weeks and others for half a year" In Astrology 7, such a phenomenon is not to be neglected. In any case, Saturn's retrogradation is meaning ful when it occurs at the frontier between two signs, that is two periods. If Saturn has entered a fixed sign, for instance and retrogrades in the previous mutable sign, that will interfere with the "natural" process of the cycle. One could even say that retrogradations are an excellent way/method to prove our astrology which is much more precise than other types. Let us repeat what is the impact of each of the thrée phases starting from the mutable period, then passing to the cardinal period and finishing with the fixed period. The three periods are strongly interconnected so that it is difficult to sustain which is the first of the three to begin with. On can start with fixed Saturne, that is a time of hesitation, of disorientation, followed by a mutable Saturn, which creates a need of integration, of identification within a group and finally Saturn reaches a cardinal sign, which develops the ambition of becoming the center of the said group and afterwards, Saturne will return to another fixed sign and so on, and so forth. On nous annonce un Congrès pour la fin mars 2025 en lien avec la conjonction Saturne-Neptune à venir en bélier, signe cardinal. Il y a 21 ans, avec Saturne en cancer, autre signe cardinal, s'était tenu à Paris, à la Maison des Associations du XIIIE arrondissement un important congrès, intégralement filmé et accessible encore aujourd'hui sur Internet : l'Astrologie et le Monde. L'importance de ce Congrès tenait au nombre de personnalités du milieu astrologique qui y participèrent, cette rencontre étant réservée aux chercheurs en Astrologie et non aux étudiants ou aux amateurs. Depuis cette date de 2004, la pensée astrologique aura connu d'importantes évolutions, sous notre impulsion, ce qui a abouti à revoir totalement l'astrologie léguée par André Barbault. Reprenons la notice dressée par Yves Lenoble à son sujet, lors de son décés en 2019: "C’est l’un des astrologues les plus importants du XXe siècle. Il a modernisé aussi bien l’astrologie mondiale que l’astrologie généthliaque. Il est né en 1921 dans l’Yonne. Il a suivi les traces d’un frère aîné, d’abord astrologue puis alchimiste. Il s’est passionné au sein du Centre International d’Astrologie (CIA), pour la psychanalyse et la caractérologie. Il y a créé avec tout un petit groupe la section Psychologie. Ce groupe a publié dans les années 50 plusieurs livres qui ont renouvelé l’interprétation des planètes : Uranus – Neptune, Soleil – Lune, Jupiter – Saturne. André Barbault publie en 1955 chez Grasset Défense et Illustration de l’astrologie, un livre où sont déjà posés les jalons de tout ce que cet astrologue va apporter à l‘astrologie. Suite au succès de ses livres sur les signes du zodiaque, les éditions du Seuil lui demandent de rédiger un traité d’astrologie. Il publie en même temps De la Psychanalyse à l’Astrologie un ouvrage plus théorique qui montre les multiples liens qui existent entre l’astrologie et la psychanalyse. C’est néanmoins par ses travaux en astrologie mondiale qu’André Barbault est connu à l’étranger, aussi bien dans le monde anglo-saxon qu’en Europe. Il a été le premier à montrer que l’on pouvait expliquer les événements survenus au XIXe et XXe siècle à partir des cycles existant entre les planètes lentes. Son premier ouvrage sur ce sujet les Astres et l’Histoire date de 1967. Il a continué jusqu’à sa mort en 2019 à approfondir la corrélation entre les événements mondiaux et les configurations planétaires. Il est possible de connaître le détail de ses recherches et de ses prévisions en se reportant aux nombreux livres qu’il a publié sur ce sujet ou en lisant les nombreux articles qu’il a publié dans l’Astrologue, la revue trimestrielle qu’il a fondée en 1968. " André Barbault a toujours été à la pointe du progrès. Il a compris tout de suite que l’informatique allait jouer un rôle considérable. Dès les années 70 il a fait calculer par l’ordinateur IBM d’Astroflash les positions planétaires de n’importe quelle période du passé, ce qui lui a permis d’élargir considérablement son champ de recherches en astrologie mondiale. A partir de l’an 2000, il crée un site sur Internet pour y poster ses articles. N’hésitez pas à vous rendre sur andrebarbault.com pour y découvrir des dizaines d’articles d’ astrologie mondiale comme d’astrologie généthliaque, tous plus intéressants les uns que les autres En tant qu'historien de l'Astrologie et auteur notamment de la série "La Vie astrologique" et des Guides astrologiques,, nous pensons en effet que Barbault appartient au siècle passé et que son oeuvre est désormais complétement obsolétes au prisme des années 2020. L'importance qu'il accorda aux planétes "lentes" ne fait plus guère sens de nos jours, à commencer par le cycle Saturne-Neptune dont le congrès annoncé fait son thème central sans inviter les chercheurs les plus en pointe à y intervenir, ce qui va forcément donner une fausse idée de l'état de la recherche astrologique. En fait, Barbault n'aura guère changé de modéle depuis 1967, il y aura donc bientôt 60 ans, date à laquelle nous sommes arrivés dans le milieu astrologique. NOus avons en cette année 2025 l'avantage de signaler un certain aboutissement de notre travail sous le nom d'Astrologie "Septennale"; ce qui met l'accent sur la périodicité de 7 ans, sur la base du passage de Saturne tous les 7 ans dans un signe cardinal. On est donc à cent lieues de l'approche de Barbault avec son cycle des conjonctions Saturne-Neptune -tous les 36 ans dont on voudrait célébrer la valeur lors du prochain congrès de l'association Source. Il est encore temps de changer le thème de ce Congrès anachronique qui est marqué par une certaine sclérose intellectuelle dès lors que l'on se refuse de changer son fusil d'épaule. La communauté astrologique francophone ne peut que se ridiculiser en adhèrant en 2025 à un tel projet "Saturne-Neptune", en ne protestant pas contre une telle initiative et se tire bel et bien une balle dans le pied. L'heure est en effet à une astrologie qui a pris la mesure des périodes brèves et à quoi rime sérieusement le rappel que dès 1955, Barbault avait annoncé 1989? L'alliance de l'astrologie ne doit pas être avec l'Histoire mais avec la Sociologie et avec le Droit Constitutionnel marquée par la récurrence, la répétition de temps brefs, à l'instar des constitutions politiques avec des mandats de quelques années seulement. Les guerres mondiales n'auront, quant à elles, duré que très peu d'années et cela vaut pour la Shoah dont l'opération d'extermination se situe dans les années 1942-44. L'Astrologie septennale -divise le cycle de Saturne en périodes de 7 ans (ce que nous avions déjà exposé en 1976 dans Clefs pour l'Astrologie, chez Seghers. La parution de cet ouvrage - qui fut d'ailleurs une grave déconvenue pour Barbault qui y avait candidaté (ce qui lui valut un procés (perdu) en diffamation- était déjà l'indication d'une reléve. Cela fera donc 50 ans que la communauté astrologique aura été dans le déni des avancées. Dès 1975, il y a 50 ans, la création du MAU, le Mouvement Astrologique unifié, allait marginalisé, éclipsé, le Centre International d'Astrologie (CIA) dont Barbault avait voulu reprendre le contrôle et donc en 1973 nous avions obtenu la Vice Présidence que Barbault avait du abandonner en 1968. Reinhold Ebertin avait montré la voie en mettant sur le même pied (Astrologie "90 degrés") les 4 signes cardinaux alors que le congrès annoncé en reste à l'importance accordée au signe du bélier. En fait, une astrologie mondiale qui se respecte doit être septénnale. Le probléme, c'est que le cycle Saturne Neptune ne respecte aucunement une telle division quaternaire, si ce n'est par coincidence ponctuelle. Qu'est ce qu'une astrologie qui ne se validerait que tous les 36 ans, considérant comme secondaires toutes les autres date? Le temps de la démysfification a sonné et un tel Congrès ne peut satisfaire les adversaires de l'Astrologie qui donne ainsi des verges pour se faire fouetter Le passage de Saturne à nouveau en signe cardinal devrait être l'occasion d'un renouvellement/ Mieux vaut tard que jamais!
